VIOLA OTTILIE LANIEWSKI (RITTHALER)

Vi Laniewski 89, of Gainesville Florida, passed away peacefully at home with her closest family by her side. Vi grew up on a farm in Alpena Township, Michigan. She raised her children nearby in Alpena before relocating to Hudson, Florida in 1986 where she worked for Schrader Elementary School until she retired in 2000. Vi was known for her sense of humor and her ability to make others laugh and smile.

Vi is survived by her seven children: Ronald Olsen, Karen (Eugene) Beaubien, Wendy (Matt) Glaza, Tina Brown, Shelly (Charlie) Wyman, Amy Martin, and Ardith (Dwayne) Bertram; brother Manuel (Karen) Ritthaler; 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Leif (Tony) Laniewski, granddaughter Sara Jakey, her parents, and many siblings.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to consider a donation towards her celebration of life, which will take place in Alpena this summer. Donations can be mailed to her daughter Ardith Bertram directly.
