MARY J. HALL

Mary J. Hall, 76, of Alpena, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 3, 2023 at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena. She was a loving, caring, and kind mother, grandmother, sister, and friend that will be dearly missed. Mary Jane was born in Alpena, Michigan on Feb. 19, 1946 to Frank and Frances Wojtowicz. She grew up in Alpena and lived in the area all of her life. She attended St. Anne’s Catholic School and graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1964. She married Dennis P. Hall on Oct. 9, 1965. They were married for 20 years.

Mary attended Northwestern Michigan College in 1965. She obtained her Practical Nursing Certificate and then her Michigan Board of nursing LPN license the following year. She was employed at Alpena General Hospital for 30 years retiring in 1998.

Throughout her life, Mary enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, loved cooking for friends and family get-togethers at her home, and could cross stitch, needlepoint, or crochet anything you could imagine. She also loved with all her heart her daughter, grandchildren, nieces and nephew. Mary was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church of All Saints Parish as well as the All Saints Rosary Society.

Mary leaves behind her daughter, Sarah McLaren and Andrew McLaren, grandchildren, Adam Brilinski and Violet McLaren, a sister, Joann (Charlie) Lake, a brother, Thomas Wojtowicz (Paula), two nieces, Laura (Brian) Newman and Monica (Jeremy) Morissette, a nephew, Brandon Wojtowicz (Amanda), and many other family members.

Visitation will be held at Karpus Hunter and Ross Funeral Home on Friday, Feb. 10, 2023 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the Nurse’s Honor Guard and Parish Prayer Service starting at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023 at St. Anne Catholic Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Fr. Tyler Bischoff as celebrant. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial contribution to Hospice of Michigan or St. Vincent DePaul Alpena.
