MARSHA LEE DESERMEAU

Marsha Lee (Dickinson) Desermeau passed away at the home of her daughter in Midland on Dec. 31, 2022, after a brief illness of pancreatic cancer.

Marsha, also known as Lee, was born on May 12, 1938, in Flint, Michigan to the late Raymond and Martha (Hayes) Dickinson. At age six, the family moved to the farm on Stinson Road, Herron Michigan. In 1955, Marsha married James Daniel Desermeau. Together Jim and Marsha Lee had six children. Henry, Debra, Roxanne, Velvet, Dan and Jeanne. He preceded her in death on Oct. 3, 1996.

Marsha was very proud to be one of the “Original Members” of the Green Township Fire Department as an EMT and later as an employee of Alpena General Hospital in 1990. Marsha retired in 2004, so she could go on a month-long RV vacation with her son Henry and his wife Donna to Alaska, which she reminisced about over the years. Marsha enjoyed reading, traveling, a small garden, lunches with retirees from hospital, working at church bazaars and dinners. She loved the “Mystery Dinners” with her family and friends. Marsha was a member of the Spratt United Methodist Church on M-65 Lachine.

Surviving are her four children, Henry (Donna) Desermeau, Lachine, Debra (Patrick) Gerow, Herron, Velvet (Mike) Balwinski, Midland, Dan (Carol) Desermeau, Oxford; son-in-law Dennis Foor; nine grandchildren: Tathia (TJ) Lockhart, Jim Desermeau, Charles (Erica) Meinzinger, Joshua (Missy) Meinzinger, Janice (Joe) Gartland, Christopher Foor, Paul (Kristy) Clipper, Jeanne (Bryan) Pope, Joel Desermeau; step grandchildren: Dawn Gay, PJ Gerow, Paul (Heather) Gerow, Craig (Julie) Gerow; 16 great-grandchildren; Graci, Abby, Sophia, and Sadie Lockhart, Meghan and Cody Gay, Alexis Martinson, Benjamin, William, Linkon, and Paige Meinzinger, Bailey and Riley Biermaker, Rhys and Niko Gerow, Little Miss Harper Gartland, Heath Pope; and sister-in-law Mary (Dickinson) VanSipe. A special thank you to friends, Linda Heussner and Audrey Jennings.

Marsha was preceded in death by two daughters, Jeanne Desermeau, Roxanne Foor, grandson Benjamin Desermeau, sister, Christine Kay Moore, and brother, Terry Jan Dickinson.

A private family graveside service will be held in the spring. Arrangements handled by Bannan Funeral Home.

Inurnment will be at St. Rose Cemetery, Herron, next to her husband, daughter, and grandson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Green Township Fire Department, Spratt United Methodist Church, or Hospice.
