CHRISTIAN RUDE
Christian Reinhold Rude Jr., 89, of Alpena passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, Jan. 3, 2023, at MyMichigan Medical Center, surrounded by immediate family.
Christian, or Chris, was born Jan. 16, 1934, to Christian Rude Sr. and Elizabeth Rude (Linke). After graduating high school, Chris served two years in the Army, where he was stationed in Japan. Shortly thereafter, on May 14, 1960, he married Carol Ann Hayes at St. Anne’s Parish and lived happily in Alpena.
He was employed over 40 years at Besser Co. as a welder, where he retired. Chris also enjoyed working in his backyard garden, raising apple trees, dancing to polka music, hunting and nature walks, and baseball — Detroit Tigers!
He cherished time with his family, especially his Granddaughters. He will be remembered as a kind, generous, loyal, and hardworking man by those who knew him, his many friends, and he will be dearly missed by his family.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Rude of Alpena; sons Thomas and David (Colleen) Rude; Granddaughters Onatah Rude and Nova Rude; his brother Clarence Rude of Alpena; and his sister Marie Bowers of Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
Chris is at McWilliams Funeral Home where visiting hours will be held on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Bryan Salminen officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the VFW Post 2496 and the U.S. Army.
