WILLIAM DAYTON YAHNE
William Dayton Yahne, 82, of Ossineke passed away Friday, Dec. 23, 2022, at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena.
Born on Sept. 22, 1940, to the late Charles and Hannah (Montgomery) Yahne in Northville, Michigan. Bill received a football scholarship from the University of Louisville upon high school graduation and later graduated from Wayne State University Law School. He loved his career and the people he helped. He often referred to himself as “just a country lawyer”. He served on several community agencies and numerous boards throughout many years, including Child and Family Services. He was an avid golfer and a voracious reader. He was a longtime member of the Alpena Country Club and First Congregational United Church of Christ. On Aug. 13, 1989, he married Nancy Tatarchuk.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy; two daughters, Elizabeth (Marty) Yahne-Skiba, Deborah (Daniel Tibbals) Yahne; six grandchildren, Hannah (Rob Mays) Skiba, Emily (Joshua Weisfeld) Skiba, Noah Skiba, David (Julia) Tibbals, Brian (Becky) Tibbals, Danielle (Mark) Tibbals-Scoggins; six great-grandchildren, Bridgette Andrzejewski, Sebastian Mays, Kamiel Mays, Shelby Scoggins, Lily Scoggins, Braden Tibbals; and a sister, Carolina (Bill Zimmer) Yahne.
A private family gathering will take place in the spring. Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Sunrise Mission or Alpena County George N. Fletcher Public Library.
