ANDREW DAOUST
Andrew Daoust, 29, of Alpena passed away at home with his family at his side following a long, hard-fought battle with Friedreich’s Ataxia.
Andrew was diagnosed at the age of 10 but he never let that define him. While he may have been limited physically, he was never limited in his love of life and others. He was a kind soul with a big heart who always kept a positive outlook regardless of the situation. Andrew had many amazing experiences in his short time here, including several wish trips that included a hunting trip to Texas where he was able to bag a Black Buck and a trip to the “Big House” in Ann Arbor where he got to meet Lloyd Carr and several football players. Andrew enjoyed playing cards especially Euchre, traveling, camping, was a big video gamer, and a huge U-of-M football fan. He also enjoyed his daily talks with his aunt Sheila, making bets with his Godmother, aunt Sally, managing his sports fantasy teams and was an avid reader who was the leader of his book club. He loved his pets and spending time with family.
Andrew is survived by his father; Dan (Mindy) Daoust, his mother; Sherry (Gary) Goren, his siblings; Mitchell Daoust, Michelle (Brody) Zbytowski, Anna Goren, Alexander Goren, Benjamin (Abigail) Goren, Brita Goren, and Sullivan Goren, his nephew and nieces; Corbin, Adley and Everly Zbytowski, his fur friends; Morris, Mocha, Sadie, Cooper, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Andrew is at McWilliams Funeral Home where family will receive friends on Monday, Jan. 2, 2023 from 2 to 8 p.m. with a time for sharing memories starting at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday at St. Anne Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until the funeral mass at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Lingaur as celebrant. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation to the Huron Humane Society and/or the Second Chance Animal Shelter.
