RONALD MENEGHEL
Ronald Meneghel, 91, of Alpena passed away Oct. 26, 2022.
Ron was born Oct. 20, 1931, in Detroit to the late Armand and Cecelia (Fitch) Meneghel. He enlisted in the Navy following high school and used that opportunity to continue his education. He went on to obtain his Master of Education from Eastern Michigan University where he would meet his “Rosie”. He and Rosie were married for 56 years before her passing in 2016. Ron taught at Walled Lake Consolidated Schools before moving to teach at Alpena Public Schools in the early 70’s where he would eventually retire in 1994. Ron was active in the Alpena Education Association, the Michigan Education Association, and the National Education Association. He served as representative for other educators. He also proudly served the Alpena community on many boards such as the Besser Museum, Alpena Library, and the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Ron was also very active politically helping organize campaign schedules for candidates of the 106th district, as well as the 36th district candidate for the Michigan senate. Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, bird watching, and creating various artistic items.
Ron is survived by his daughters, Aprill Brandt (Andy Schmeltz), and Melanie Meneghel, his granddaughter, Ashli Brandt, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife Rosie, and his brother, David Meneghel.
Ron is at McWilliams Funeral Home where a gathering of friends and family will take place on Nov. 11, 2022, from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation to the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary, or the George Fletcher Library.
