JANET MAXINE HOPKINS

Janet Maxine Hayes was born in Owosso on Oct. 12, 1946, to the late LeRoy and Maxine (Rupp) Hayes and married Jon Hopkins on Aug. 17, 1968. She taught at Thunder Bay Junior High School and later Alpena High School, retiring in 1996. She was a member of the Alpena Garden Club, Tip-O’ The Mitt Miata Club, enjoyed knitting, needle point, gardening, and playing golf.

Surviving are her husband, Jon; two sons, Scott (Shannon) Hopkins, Craig (Gita) Hopkins; four grandchildren, Kate, Emma, Niklas, Kylie; sisters, Sue Ray and Valerie (Everett) Mitchell.

Janet was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Hayes and Walter Hayes.

Memorial visitation will take place at the Bannan Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 18, 2022, from 12 noon until the time of the memorial service at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Arnie Kirschner officiating.
