IRENE G. ROULEAU

Irene G Rouleau, 93, of Alpena. The Lord took her hand and led her home on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022.

Irene was born Feb. 8, 1929 in Herron Michigan to Arthur and Grace (Lemster) Habermehl.

She attended Alpena High School and was a drummer in the marching band. Her love of education continued as she attended County Normal and received her degree in teaching. On June 9, 1951 she married the love of her life Bob. They went on to raise five children, Bonnie (Phil) Verslype of Holland, Jeanine Rouleau (Dale) of Petoskey, Craig (Kimberly) of Indian River, Grace (Steve) Marshall of Alpena, Jackie (Bill) Schell of Granger Ind. Six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Family was her greatest joy. She was kind and giving, a great role model, a cheerleader, warm and wonderful loving mother, mamoo and moomoo. She loved and appreciated all of Mother Nature’s beauty that surrounded her, from the birds at the back yard feeder, the never ending wildlife on the river she so loved, to a great sunset and moonrise over the bay. She could watch and listen to the crashing of the waves on a windy day for hours. Always a farm kid at heart, she enjoyed a car ride in the country to see the farm animals and the changes in season with the crops in the fields. She was an avid car buff, and enjoyed seeing and exploring our great country with many wonderful trips with family and her beloved Bob.

She touched many lives as a teacher in the title one program at Ella White School. She was a past member of the St Anne’s Alter Society and Choir, and volunteer with the Hospital Auxiliary and a Precinct Chairperson on the City of Alpena Election Committee.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years Bob, her parents Arthur and Grace and siblings; Lee Habermehl, Florence VanWagner, and Dorothy Dietz.

Her memory will be honored at a private family service.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Second Chance Animal Shelter, the Hospital Auxiliary, Hospice of Michigan or a charity of your choice.
