CLEMENTS MODRZYNSKI

Clements Modrzynski, 92, of Alpena passed away on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022. Clements was born Feb. 26, 1930, in Rogers City to Stanley and Frances (Romel) Modrzynski. He was the fourth oldest of 12 children.

Clem married his childhood sweetheart Eleanor Rita Zielaskowski on Jan. 6, 1951, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Rogers City. They were married for 62 years before her death on Dec. 18, 2013.

He obtained his sailing card at age 16 and went to work on the Great Lakes freighters. In the mid 1950’s, he quit to start his own trucking business. Later, he became employed at Stoneport, built a house on Grand Lake, and in the late 1960’s moved his family there. He and Eleanor did a lot of snowmobiling and camping with their friends. His proudest trip was in 1977 when he and Eleanor along with their son Duane, took their fifth wheel camper along the ALCAN Highway to Alaska and back. He retired from Stoneport in 1992, bought a new fifth wheel camper and traveled about the country.

Surviving are his three children, Sandra (Larry) McLennan of Alpena, Kenneth Modrzynski of Presque Isle and Duane Modrzynski (Stefanie Green) of Gaylord; six grandchildren, Sarah McLennan, Scott (Melinda) McLennan, Amber (Peter) Maxwell, Kyle Modrzynski, Elizabeth (Cody) Bechaz, and Noah Modrzynski; four great-granddaughters, Meera McLennan, Layla Bechaz, Quinn Bechaz and Grace Maxwell; one brother, James (Linda) Modrzynski; five sisters, Genevieve (Frank) Gierak, Patricia (Bernard) Malkowski, Joyce (Ronald) Klee, Gladys (Ronald) Kuznicki, and Charlene (Patrick) Leen; one brother-in-law, Daniel Zielaskowski; and one sister-in-law, Caroline Modrzynski.

He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Vicki Jo Modrzynski; three brothers, Henry, Raymond and Stanley Jr., and two sisters, Esther Modrzynski and Frances Jaeger.

Visitation will take place Saturday at St. Anne Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Lingaur officiating.

Interment: Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Rogers City, Michigan
