THOMAS ANTHONY GARBER
Thomas Anthony Garber, 58, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at his home surrounded by loved ones after his courageous battle with cancer. Tom was born on March 24, 1964, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to the late Robert and Donna (Lapp) Garber. Tom was passionate about many things including his family and loved ones, and making people laugh.
On Sept. 19, 1992, he married his long time love Cindy Robinette. They enjoyed working as a team to create the best life possible for them and their two children, Madison and Nathaniel. Tom was the captain of the ship, always making sure his family was well provided for in every aspect of life. He worked hard and played even harder at their bucket list home on Long Lake.
Tom was a hard and dedicated employee at Lafarge Holcim where he worked for over 30 years with the most recent years being a control room operator. He loved the people he worked with and did his best to keep things light-hearted and exciting each and every day.
Tom brought humor and put a smile on the face of everyone he came in contact with, and also had a soft side few had the privilege to see first-hand. Even throughout Tom’s cancer journey he was known for his sense of humor and quick wit, always bringing a smile even on the days he was feeling his worst. Tom was giving to a fault and few knew about his unsung acts of kindness he secretly went about doing to help those less fortunate than him.
Tom is survived by his wife Cindy and their two children Madison of Grand Rapids and Nathaniel of Alpena, his three brothers, Joe (Cindy) Garber, Mark Garber and Doug Garber, his sister Gretchen Woods; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and of course his faithful companions Zoey and Fuzzi.
Besides his parents Tom was preceded in death by father-in-law and mother-in-law Lester and Bernadine Robinette.
Visitation will take place at the Bannan Funeral Home on Monday from 2-8 p.m. with a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at St. Anne Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with the Rev.
