TERRY GORDON RONDEAU
Terry Gordon Rondeau, age 81 of Cooks, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his residence with family at his side on Sept. 17, 2022. He was born in Spruce, Michigan on April 10, 1941, the son of Lawrence Andrew and Clara Rose (Leeseberg) Rondeau. He attended schools in Alpena and graduated from High School with the class of 1959. Terry served in the United States Army and spent time stationed in Korea, after the Korean War.
Terry married Janet Ann Stema in Posen, Michigan on Oct. 26, 1963, and they were nearly inseparable for 59 years of married life until her passing on July 12, 2022. Terry started his career working for Calcite Limestone Quarry, in Rogers City, Michigan in the maintenance department. While working in Rogers City he built a house in Posen, Michigan. He later sold his home and bought a dairy farm in Trenary, Michigan which he and his family of five children ran for the next 10 years.
Terry moved to Cooks, Michigan in 1986 and created Rondeau’s Ruff Acres, which is still in operation today. Terry was very involved with the farming community. He was a member of Michigan Agricultural Association and was passionate about Minneapolis Moline Tractors. Terry loved gardening and could coax any plant to life, often experimenting with plants, trees, and bushes that normally grow in other zones. Terry’s favorite pastime was driving and using his tractors. Throughout his life, Terry remained an active participant with The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, in Rogers City, Munising, and in Manistique, and he served as a Ministerial Servant/Elder. Most of all, Terry enjoyed having his family and kids and friends with him on the farm, he loved his role as “Papa”.
Terry is survived by his son Edward Rondeau of Cooks, Michigan; daughter Laura (Wayne) Johnson of Munising, Michigan; son Ty (Dawn) Rondeau of Amherst, Wisconsin; daughter Gail (Andy) DeMars of Cooks, Michigan; daughter Lynn (Shane) Rath of Isabella, Michigan; siblings Leon (April) Rondeau of Alpena, Michigan, William “Bill” Rondeau of Spruce, Michigan, Mick (Dawn) Rondeau of Eben Junction, Michigan, Roy (Nancy) Rondeau of Ossineke, Michigan, Gerald “Pete” (Vicki) Rondeau of Spruce, Michigan, Thomas (Chris) Rondeau of Spruce, Michigan, Barry Rondeau of Alpena, Michigan, Ann (Jack) Skuse of Spruce, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Natalie, Morgan, Tyler, Dylan, Devin, Tony, Trace and great-grandson Jaxen. He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Clara Rondeau, his wife Janet Rondeau and younger brother Dale Rondeau.
Celebration of Life will be available via Zoom Saturday Oct. 1, 1 p.m. at the Inwood Township Hall or you can login and view anywhere Zoom# 7531550488 password 413193, with a luncheon to follow. Memorial contributions in Terry’s name may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Fausett Family Funeral Homes of Manistique, Michigan is assisting the family with arrangements.
