PATRICK EDWARD BENDIG

Pat was born March 14, 1937, in Lincoln, Michigan. On July 3, 1954, he married his love, Shirley Orban in Harrisville, Michigan. Pat enjoyed working on cars, farming, John Deere tractors, and collected motorcycles and coins in his earlier days. He loved his job at Huron Portland Cement/National Gypsum/LaFarge where he worked for over 50 years before retiring. Pat and Shirley were members of the Exceptional Friends of the Alpena Handicap Club where they served as King and Queen. He was a long-time member of Word of Life Church.

Pat is survived by his wife of 68 years, Shirley, his children, Susan (Edwin) Cohoon, Gary (Lois) Bendig, Patricia Dean (Greg Richardson), Vicki Bendig, and Kimberly Bendig (Paige), 12 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and his sister, Mary (Mike) Realy. He was preceded by his son David Lee Bendig, his grandson, Raymond David Bendig, his mother, Velma Wilson, his grandparents (Mom and Dad), Viola and Fred Doyle, and two brothers, Daniel and Fred Bendig.

Visiting hours will be held from 10a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, at Word of Life Church. The celebration of life service will begin at 12 p.m. with Pastor Tim Decker officiating. Memorial donations can be made to the Word of Life Church Benevolent Fund. McWilliams Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
