DOLLY LEE FOX
Former Alpena resident, Dolly Lee Fox, 87, of Marquette, died Sunday morning Sept. 18, 2022 at the residence of her daughter, Gail McCormick, and the care of Lake Superior Hospice.
Born Jan. 16, 1935 in Stanton, Kentucky, daughter of the late Howard and Retha (Baber) Belcher, Dolly moved to the Newberry area as a child.
Dolly married Charles McNamara and was a devoted homemaker raising her family. Following the death of Charles on Oct. 19, 1979, Dolly married Kenneth Fox on Nov. 21, 1981 in Bay City. Dolly resided in Alpena serving as secretary in her husband’s business, K & J Roofing and Siding, for several years until his retirement and moving back to Newberry. Following Kenneth’s death on June 26, 2012, Dolly continued to reside in Newberry eventually moving to Marquette.
During her lifetime, Dolly was a volunteer for Headstart in Newberry. She enjoyed canning, cooking, quilting, flower gardening, and bowling. Thanksgiving and Christmas were her favorite holidays spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Charles and Kenneth, Dolly is preceded in death by her son Bob McNamara, grandson Noah McNamara and siblings Andy Belcher, Bonnie Sackett, Midge Mogg, Bethel Whalen, and Don Belcher.
Survivors include her children Gail (Roy) McCormick of Marquette, Bill (Amy) McNamara of Newberry, Jayne (Dan) Sturgeon of Newberry, Shelly (Steve Nayback) of Newberry and Jamie (Jennifer) McNamara of Alpena; step-daughters Tammy Newingham of Kingsford and Sherri Fox of Iron Mountain; 20 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Bonnie McNamara of Millington; siblings Joanne Block of Anderson, California, Shirley Dunkeld of Mt. Pleasant; Albert “Butch” Belcher of Livonia, Gerald “Jerry” (Debbie) Belcher of Romulus, Ronald (Darlene) Belcher of Brighton and Charles (Cathy) Belcher of Wixom.
Per request, cremation services were accorded. Memorial services will be held Saturday Oct. 1, 2022 at 12 noon at the American Legion Post #74 in Newberry. Interment will take place at Forest Home Cemetery.
