PHILLIP ALLEN WIENCZEWSKI DDS

Phillip Allen Wienczewski DDS, 83, of Presque Isle, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022, at home. He was born in Alpena, Michigan July 26, 1939, to the late Dr. T.W. and Lucille Wienczewski.

Phil graduated from Alpena Catholic Central 1956, Marquette University (Milwaukee) BA 1960, MS 1964, U of M DDS 1970, and Postgraduate Pathology at Harvard. He taught Biology at Elgin Community College and Histology and pre-med courses at Marquette University. On Aug. 31, 1963, Phil married the former Barbara Ann Chrzan at St. Mary Catholic Church in Alpena with the Rev. Bernard Skornia officiating.

Active in the community Dr. “W” was past president of St. Mary School Board, Alpena Hockey Association, Blue Line Club, N.E. District Dental Society and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, American Academy of Implant Dentistry Associate Fellowship, and Midwest Implant Fellowship. He enjoyed many areas of dentistry for over 50 years: oral surgery, occlusion, implants and was always anxious to learn and do more. To relax meant going trout fishing, tying his own flies, golfing, woodworking, gardening, and boating on Grand Lake.

Surviving is significant other, Tamyra Hanson; his children: Tara Mainville, Edward Wienczewski, Mark Wienczewski, Dr. Christopher (Katie) Wienczewski; five grandchildren: Nicholas, Brooke, Pierce, Jack, Olivia; Tamyra’s family: Sarah (Chase) Barnett, Ericha (Aaron) Diegel and eight grandchildren. Also surviving is the mother of his children, Barbara Wienczewski; 2 sisters, Theo (Dale) Hanson, Marcia (Robert) Huber; sister-in-law Judy Wienczewski; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death was a brother, Robert Wienczewski.

Inurnment: Holy Cross Cemetery where a private graveside service will be held. Arrangements have been made by the Bannan Funeral Home.
