JOAN DIANE STRALEY
Joan Diane Straley, 86, of Alpena passed away peacefully at home with her loving family at her side on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2022.
Joan was born Dec. 19, 1935, in Alpena to the late Lewis and Ruth (Kalisch) Rosbeck. On Jan. 5, 1957, she married Richard Straley. He passed away on Sept. 23, 1978. Joan worked for many years at Tendercare in medical records and later retired from Alpena Furniture. She was a member of the Hockey Moms Association, and a long-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church – Alpena. Joan enjoyed visiting the casino, dancing, playing cards with friends, wintering in Florida, and spending time with her family.
Joan is survived by her five children, Mark (Janet), Rick (Jennifer), Jim (Cindy), Steve (Christie Jacobs), and Leonard (Lisa) Richards, her sister, Peggy (George) Szatkowski, 12 grandchildren, Elizabeth (Tyler) Buchinger, Jonathan (Hope) Straley, Kate (Adam) Szydlowski, Jacob Straley (Jillian), Amelia Straley (Matt), Benjamin Straley, Alyssa (Brock) LaVergne, Heather (Lance) Senske, Samantha Straley (Justin), Morgan (Ryley) Hale, Nick Richards, and Justin (Tip) Richards, 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, her son Jere, two brothers, Gary and Donald Rosbeck, her infant sister, Bonnie Rosbeck, and her daughter in-law, Shawn O’Donnell-Straley.
Family will receive friends at McWilliams Funeral Home on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022, from 1 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 4 p.m. with the Rev. John Shipman officiating. Memorial donations can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church and Immanuel Lutheran Church. Inurnment: Evergreen Cemetery
