Trudy (Gertrude) Stuber, 99, passed away June 29, 2022. She was born Oct. 31, 1922 to the late Reverend Herman and Dorothea Brietzke, in Oberlin, Michigan.
Trudy graduated from Central Michigan University with her teaching certificate. In 1944, during WWII, she was recruited by the Department of Defense to help decode Japanese transmissions. She accepted the challenge and moved to Washington D.C. When she returned to Michigan, she met and married the love of her life Ken Stuber. She taught elementary education for over 30 years in Ypsilanti and Bay City, Michigan.
Trudy and Ken retired to Ossineke, Michigan where they enjoyed Lake Huron and traveling the United States. They later moved to Lost Lake Woods, Lincoln, Michigan. Trudy’s passions always included faith, family, friends, and flowers. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Hubbard Lake; and volunteered assisting shut-ins with prayers and meals, leading Bible Studies, and other church activities.
After Ken passed away she moved to Boyne City, where she resided at “The Brook.” During her final twelve years she enjoyed the visits from family and friends; reminiscing and catching up over lunch and coffee. She always shared with others how much those visits, cards, and phone calls meant to her.
