ROY KUNATH

Roy was born Sept. 11, 1931, in Alpena to the late Phillip and Julia (Forthoffer) Kunath. Shortly after high school he enlisted in the Marines where he served during the Korean War. He later married the love of his life, Elaine Beaubien on Oct. 29, 1955. Roy enjoyed hunting, playing cards, crossword puzzles, watching westerns, sharing war stories, camaraderie at the VFW Post 2496 where he was a longtime member, but above all else Roy enjoyed time spent with his family watching his grandchildren grow.

Roy is survived by his children, Jane (Dexter) Walker, Julie (Rick) Papenfuss, JoAnn (Rudy) Reinholz, James Kunath, and Jennifer Kunath (Curt Adams), his grandchildren, Michelle Fradette, Michael Fradette, Mary Reinholz, Jamie Thayer, Jason Kunath, Autumn Johnston, Emily Douglas, David Verville, Taylor Kunath, and Zach Kunath, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Elaine, four siblings, Jean Bolter, Norm Kunath, Lois Darga, and Robert Kunath.

Roy is at McWilliams Funeral Home where visiting hours will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2022, from noon to 3 p.m. Military honors will be accorded by VFW Post 2496 starting at 3 p.m. with the memorial service following with the Rev.
