JUNE (MARK) KRAMER

June (Mark) Kramer, 83, formerly of Alpena passed away on March 7, 2022, in Georgetown, Texas. June was born to Albert and Madeline (McLinden) Mark on June 5, 1938, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She graduated from Alpena High School and married Carl Zolnierek on September 14, 1957. Their son, Gary, was born in 1958. Following Carl’s death in a car accident in 1960, she attended the North Central School of Practical Nursing in Traverse City and worked as an LPN in New York and at Alpena General Hospital. In 1964, she married Gerald Kramer, who had three children: Joy, Bruce, and Larry.

After her retirement from Alpena Medical Center in 1995, June and Gerald enjoyed a winter home in Apache Junction, Arizona and traveling in their motorhome throughout the country and Canada. When Gerald passed away in 2006, June established the Gerald Kramer Scholarship Fund to support students pursuing a future in nursing or other direct patient care roles.

June was at her best when she was helping others or engaging in conversation. She cherished time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She also loved to collect and try new recipes.

June was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Donald and Tom Mark. She is survived by sisters Audrey (Gerald Compeau) of Alpena and Shirley Booth of Rockwall, Texas; a brother Doug (Jean) of Ann Arbor; daughter Joy (Russ Mackie) of Hubbard Lake; sons Bruce Kramer (Debbie) of Allentown, Pennsylvania, Larry Kramer (Maryanne) of Sterling Heights, and Gary Zolnierek (Cindy) of Georgetown, Texas; 14 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
