EDMUND ALVIN KONIECZNY
Edmund Alvin Konieczny, 86, of Alpena, entered eternal peace while at his home on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was a kind, compassionate, and caring man who will be dearly missed. Ed was born on Nov. 3, 1945 to the late Edmund and Josephine (Ryba) Konieczny in Metz, Michigan. On May 4, 1957 Ed joined hands in marriage to the love of his life Blanche Kroll. They were married at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Posen and went on to raise their family together for 61 years until she preceded him in death in 2018.
Ed enjoyed many things in life such as hunting, fishing, spending time with his grandkids, gardening (which he was very talented at), and going on fishing trips to Wawa, Canada with his best friend Wayne Benoit. He also loved to fix things and became quite the handyman. In fact, he was known for his “snow shovels”. People loved his ingenuity and craftsmanship. Although he loved to do all of these things, nothing brought him greater joy than loving his wife and serving GOD. Ed was a long-time member of St. Anne Catholic Church, where he was an usher for many years, and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #0529. If there was an event that the Knights of Columbus held, Ed was there including being a part of the color guard. Ed worked at Besser Baker for nearly 40 years until his retirement in 1995.
Ed is survived by three sons, Gary (Lisa) Konieczny of Alpena, Michigan, Pastor Michael (Trish) Konieczny of Alpena, Michigan, and John (Shelly) Konieczny of Tampa, Florida, a daughter-in-law, Carla Konieczny, 11 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Blanche, a son, David Konieczny, a daughter, Connie, and a brother, Thadius Konieczny.
Memorial Visitation will take place at St. Anne Catholic Church of All Saints Parish on Monday, June 13, 2022 from 10 a.m. until the time of Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. with Fr. Tyler Bischoff officiating. Inurnment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to The Kidney Foundation (30 East 33rd Street, New York, New York, 10016).
