ALDOR “AL” CARSTENS
Aldor “Al” Carstens, 97, of Ossineke passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.
Al was born on February 22, 1924, in Rhodes, Michigan to the late William John Sr. and Ann (Wicke) Carstens. He graduated from Pinconning High School and moved to Detroit. He enlisted and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. Al eventually made his way to the Alpena area and later Ossineke where he started Ossineke Building Supply. Al lost his first wife Carolyn to cancer on July 12, 1989. He later married Beverly Stanek, who preceded him in 2009. Al enjoyed many things in life including riding his Harley Davidson which he did right into his 90’s, flying his plane, bowling, and golfing.
Al is survived by his children, David (Debra) Carstens, Alane (James) Fifelski, Daniel (DeLynn) Carstens, Richard (Annette) Carstens, Martin (Gena) Carstens, Margaret (Michael) Ceslick, Gregg (Renee) Carstens, his stepchildren, Christine, Terry, Laura, his brother, Robert Carstens, his sister, June Boluch, 26 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn, his second wife, Beverly, his daughter, Kathryn Carstens, his siblings, Calvin, William Jr., Delores Zuchnik, Jack Carstens, and his brother-in-law, Ray Ballor.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Hope Lutheran Church with the Rev. Herbert Kitzman officiating.
