RUSSELL ANTHONY YOUNG
Russell Anthony Young, 92, of Alpena passed away April 11, 2022, at MediLodge of Alpena.
Russ was born Aug. 23, 1929, in Racine, Wisconsin to the late Eugene ‘Scrap Iron’ and Mary Agnes (Pfaffl) Young.
Russ graduated from UC Berkley and was Oski the Bear for five years. He was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. His father Eugene ‘Scrap Iron’ Young was the athletic trainer at Notre Dame under Knute Rockne and for the Detroit Lions. Russ enjoyed golf, watching football, cooking, singing, whistling, traveling, reading, fine dining, and the challenge of business ventures.
Surviving are his wife, Kay (Harris) Young, children, Antoinette (Kingsley) Young-Brown, Timothy (Cindy) Young, and Charles (Erin) Young, his grandchildren, Jessica (David) Janzen, Megan Young, Thomas (Malain) Brown, and Patrick Brown, his great-grandchildren, Delilah, Raglan, Xavier, and Kingsley, his brother, Eugene J. Young, and his nephews, Jeff (Jada), Rusty, Tom, Tyler, and Alec. He was preceded by his daughter, Kathleen Young.
Russ has been taken from McWilliams Funeral Home for cremation. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to All Saints Catholic Parish.
