WILLIAM J. MANCZAK

William ‘Bill’ John Manczak, 77, of Hubbard Lake peacefully passed surrounded by his beloved wife, daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Munson Healthcare in Traverse City. He is now continuing his journey with his granddaughter, Autumn up in heaven.

Bill was born in Bay City, Michigan on Sept. 27, 1944. He continued to stay in Bay City where he met the love of his life Dale. Bill and Dale raised two children, Michelle Prohaska (Mark) and Mathew Manczak (Becky). They became grandparents to Autumn, Brook, Stone, and Skyler. Bill worked at GM as a pipe fitter and stepped into his passage to retirement at the age of 50. They made their move to their forever home in Hubbard Lake where he thrived and loved so dearly. He was a man that loved the outdoors, looking out the sunroom window, there he was, with his chainsaw in hand and the log splitter right beside him. He spent most of his days in his workshop waiting for the next project him and his son-in-law (Mark) can tackle while having a relaxing beer. Mark appreciated Bill for sharing the knowledge he had by teaching him how to take care of the property, lake lot, boat, and much more.

His favorite part of his day was feeding the animals while having a long conversation with those pesky red squirrels to leave the feeders alone. He lived and breathed his 4-wheeler always going here, there, and everywhere. He finally upgraded to his Polaris Ranger which he cherished the most. Hubbard Lake was Bill’s happy place; he swam, fished, and enjoyed pontoon rides around the beautiful lake. Fishing tournaments were his favorite times of the year, where he could go out and try to catch the big one with his fishing buddies. Bill was an extremely active member of the Hubbard Lake Sportsman Improvement Association and the Hubbard Lake Citizen Watch.

Bill proved himself to be a wonderful father, grandfather, and husband. He continuously put in the extra effort for his loved ones; always being involved in his children’s sporting events, teaching his grandchildren how to be the best at everything they do, and most of all never stopped loving them with all of his heart.

Also surviving are his brother Jimmy Manczak and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Anna Manczak; six siblings, Chet Manczak, Leonard Manczak, Ray Manczak, Richard Manczak, Evelyn Conboy, and Barb Gruszynski.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday at the Bannan Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Tyler Bischoff officiating.

Donations may be made to the Friends of the Hubbard Lake Community Center or Hubbard Lake Sportsman Improvement Association.
