THOMAS H. ‘ROCKY’ ROCKWELL
Thomas H. ‘Rocky’ Rockwell died Feb. 4, 2022 at his home in Alpena, Michigan, with his family at his bedside.
Rocky was born in 1956 and grew up in Hillman, Michigan. He began his career as an auto transport carrier driver in 1979 and spent the better part of three decades traveling across our beautiful country. In that time, he visited every state in the continental U.S. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting in Northern Michigan with his three sons, gardening with his beloved wife Tina of 40 years, and working on his dear sister Paula’s farm, where a portion of his remains will live on. Rocky was also a lifelong student of history – especially well versed in the events of World War II, and he was fond of sharing his knowledge and passion for the subject in conversations with the people he loved. In addition to his wife Tina Rockwell and their three sons, Thomas, Maxwell, and Nathaniel, he is survived by five siblings, Edward Rockwell, Paula Barrie, Margaret Mason, Todd Helman, Timothy Rockwell, his grandsons Dalton and Matthew Rockwell, and mother Patricia Wood.
Tina dedicates this poem to her beloved Rocky:
If Roses Grow In Heaven
If roses grow in Heaven
Please pick a bunch for me
Place them in my Husband’s arms
and tell him they’re from me
Tell him I love him and miss him
and when he turns to smile
Place a kiss upon his cheek
and hold him for a while
Because remembering him is easy
I do it every day
But there is an ache within my heart
that will never go away
