ERNA W. FERGUSON
Age 86 of Yale, Michigan passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday Dec. 31, 2021. She was born Feb. 27, 1935, in Rus, Lithuania to Ernst and Marie Jagst. She was the oldest of four children. Erna immigrated to the United States with her family in 1949. They settled near Ossineke, Michigan.
Erna is preceded in death by both her first husband Ansis Bite as well as her second husband Arnold Ferguson. She is survived by her brothers Werner (Miriam) Jagst, Helmut Jagst and her sister Elfrida Hochhalter, her four children Steven Bite, John Bite, Mark (Brenda) Bite, and Kathleen Curtis, seven grandchildren, and nine (soon to be 10) great-grandchildren.
Erna loved gardening, doing jigsaw puzzles, and playing cards both with her family and her friends. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Yale Senior Center, of which she was a huge supporter of and was awarded the Volunteer of the Year award in 2017.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, at Hope Lutheran Church in Hubbard Lake, Michigan, with visiting from 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. A luncheon will follow. Cremation arrangements were provided by Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Yale chapter of the St Clair County Council on Aging in her name.
