RAYMOND ELLSWORTH

Raymond James Ellsworth, 61, of Alpena, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2021, at MyMichigan Medical Center. He was a kind, giving, caring, and compassionate man that will be dearly missed. Ray was born on April 17, 1960, to David and Marlene (Burnham) Ellsworth in Alpena. He was a graduate of Alpena High School and went on to college at Lake Superior State University to obtain his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. On Dec. 9, 1987, Ray joined hands in marriage to Cindy Rembowski in Alpena.

Growing up in Northern Michigan, Ray appreciated the outdoors where he enjoyed spending most of his time. He loved hunting, fishing, woodworking, and just being outside in general. Ray’s interests included gardening, he also loved cooking and experimenting with recipes, his favorite foods were hot, spicy and or pickled. He also enjoyed building model airplanes and rockets, computers, electronics, video games, and reading books. Ray found joy in many things but what really made him smile was spending time with his family. He was a very kindhearted and giving person who often put others before himself. Ray served his country in the United States Army National Guard. For the last several years Ray worked for Alpena Public Schools as a bus driver, which he had enjoyed a great deal.

Ray is survived by his wife of 34 years Cindy, three children, Victor (Bethany) Cooke, Kalob (Amanda) Ellsworth, and Chelsea Ellsworth, his mother Marlene Ellsworth, three grandchildren, Jasmine, Layla, Vidar, a great-grandson, Waylon, five siblings, Michael (Christina) Ellsworth, Debra Wcisel-Ellsworth, Randy (Marissa) Ellsworth, Karen Ellsworth, and Kathy (Jason) Whittemore, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father David.

Ray is at McWilliams Funeral Home where family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visiting will continue at the funeral home on Thursday from 12 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Rich George officiating. Interment will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation to Shriners International.
