JAMES GORDON WESTENBARGER

James Gordon Westenbarger, 77, of Alpena went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, Sept. 24, 2021, at his home surrounded by family.

James was born in Flint on April 22, 1944, to the late Gordon and Ruby (Dorman) Westenbarger. On June 14, 1973, he married Joyce Ingalls. Jim taught school for Alpena Public Schools for many years retiring in 1998. He was an active member of Alpena Free Methodist Church, serving on numerous committees over the years. Jim was active with the Keryx Prison Ministry and the Keryx in Community. He was an avid sportsman, a life member of the Alpena Sportsmen’s Club, and served on the Wilson Township Fire Department and Zoning Board. Jim will be remembered for being a loving Christian man and that he loved his family.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce, three children, James Scott (Wendy) Westenbarger, Jennifer Lynne (Bryon) Casler, John Gordon (Betty) Westenbarger, seven grandchildren, Tyler Westenbarger, Brooke Westenbarger, Joshua (Meghan) Carriveau, Janay (Micah) Bellas, Josie Carriveau, John Westenbarger, Brendan (Deanna) Westenbarger, seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert (Deidra) Westenbarger.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday at the Bannan Funeral Home from 2-8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at the Alpena Free Methodist Church from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Rich George officiating.

Interment: King Settlement Cemetery
