LAURIE FITCH

Laurie Fitch, age 72 of Hubbard Lake was called home to be with the Lord on July 15, 2021. She previously resided in Lansing, Dewitt and Bath, Michigan.

A graduate of Lansing Everett High School, she was a full-time stay-at-home mother and ran a daycare center out of her home in Lansing until her children were older. She was employed for 25 years at the Michigan State University, Broad College of Business Departments of Marketing and Supply Chain Management. After retirement, she moved to Hubbard Lake and also enjoyed winters in Orange Beach, Alabama. Laurie loved spoiling her family, especially her grandchildren.

Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, Marie (Warren) and Paul Gierman and Thomas Dunavant, niece, Tammy Taylor and brother-in-law, Daniel Wright.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, John Fitch, children Shellie Bailey of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Steven (Carmen) Fitch of Lansing, Michigan, Laura (William) Stubbs of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Andrea (Steve) Gillum of Flat Rock, Michigan, Erin (Erik) Smith of Alpena, Michigan and honorary son Scott W. Reed of Lansing, Michigan, sisters Lynne Wright of Grand Ledge, Michigan and Hubbard Lake, Deb (Steve) Cutshaw of Charlottesville, Virginia, Rhonda (Richard) Grant of Eaton Rapids, Michigan and Jill (David) Whitmore of Indian River, Michigan. Laurie cherished her 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews who will remember her with fondness.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the treatment and kindness shown to her by the physicians and nurses and medical staff at Alpena MidMichigan Hospital and Cancer Center.

Her Funeral and Interment has occurred in Lansing. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Ossineke at 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2021. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Local arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Cancer Research Hospital or Hospice of Michigan.
