BEULAH ‘BOOTS’ GERTRUDE WORNIAK

Beulah “Boots” Gertrude Worniak, 101, of Alpena, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at MediLodge of Alpena.

Beulah Gertrude LaGary was born on Jan. 22, 1920, in Cheboygan, Michigan to the late Eldrige and Nora (Guine) LaGary. On Sept. 2, 1940, she married William Worniak. He preceded her in death on March 24, 2007. Beulah worked on the ammunition line as a “Rosie the Riveter” during World War II and also worked at Kotwicki’s for 20 years. Boots was a member of All Saints Parish and Daughters of Isabella and enjoyed playing cards and bingo.

Surviving are her two daughters, Jane (Mitchell) Fortner, Susan (Wesley) Decker, four grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Theodore, two sisters, Edna Marceau, Evelyn Ewing, two sons-in-law, James Payne and Dave DeMeritt.

Memorial visitation will take place Monday at St. Anne Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. with the Rev. Tyler Bischoff officiating. Arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.

Inurnment: Holy Cross Cemetery

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Michigan and the Friendship Room.
