BARBARA LEE NITCHMAN

Barbara Lee Nitchman, age 83, of Presque Isle passed away July 23, 2021 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. She was born Jan. 4, 1938 in Springfield, Ohio to Loren and Elizabeth (Gram) Randall.

Barbara was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a person who was always willing to help people. She was a true example of Christian generosity. If someone was hungry, she fed them. If someone was down, she gave them encouragement. She gave her time to anyone who needed help. She was always available to her family, friends and the Grand Lake Chapel. Barbara was involved in the chapel at many levels. She was the Superintendent of the Sunday school and was passionate about teaching children of God’s love.

Barbara was a member of the chapel choir, the bell choir, and the Chapel Guild. She was involved with Vacation Bible School and Bible Club. She volunteered for many things, including the Soup Suppers that were held at the church. She always made a big batch of her chicken noodle soup that many people looked forward to.

Barbara was a listening ear and counselor to her children. She dispensed love, compassion and gentle guidance when her children needed it. She was there to pick them up and help them stand on their own two feet. She was proud of each of her children, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John Randall, husband Gerald, her son Steve, granddaughter Ami Lenning, and great-grandson Noah Boss.

She is survived by Phil Nitchman, Greg and Jeanne (Carr) Nitchman, Doug and Leslie (Sterling) Nitchman, and Bruce and Deb (Nitchman) Kundinger, 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one sister Carole (Ed) Grote of Columbus, Ohio.

The funeral will be held on July 31 at Grand Lake Chapel, 8025 E. Grand Lake Rd, Presque Isle, Michigan. Visitation will be held from 10:30-11:30 a.m. The funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. with lunch to follow.
