JAMES H. STEWART

Jim was born in Saginaw on Aug. 1, 1930, to Malcolm and Marion (Strachan) Stewart. He was honorably discharged as an Airdale of the U.S. Navy, Korean War, 1954. He graduated from Eastern Michigan University. On June 27, 1959, he married Lynne Simons. Jim was part owner of the Abbe Insurance Agency and had a life career in the insurance industry. He retired in 1992, moved to Ossineke. In retirement he enjoyed singing in the First Congregational United Church of Christ’s choir, barbershop chorus, and quartet “The Sunrise Edition”, volunteering for Alpena General Hospital, and wintering in Florida. He enjoyed sailing, golfing, photography, and a large miniature car collection.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Lynne, two daughters, Melissa (Don) Whitfield, Kristin (Mike) Petrusma, two grandchildren, Casey (Lex Reis) Whitfield, Sydney (Tony) Whitfield Sutliff, two step-grandsons, Josh (Michelle) Petrusma, Michael Petrusma, and six step great-grandchildren.

Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by sister, Sally Frahm.

Memorial visitation will take place Saturday, July 3, 2021, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 12 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. H. Robert Case officiating. Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
