MELFORD EARL FARRIER

Melford Earl Farrier, 67, of Alpena passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021 at their winter home in Arizona.

Melford was born on June 25, 1953 in Alpena, Michigan to the late Melford and Francis (Klein) Farrier. On Sept. 22, 1972 he married his best friend Lynn Himes.

Melford was a member of the Lincoln Hunting Club and Trinity Episcopal Church. He worked as a millwright at Lafarge for 42 years and retired in 2015. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and exploring new places. Everything they did was together with smiles on their faces. His children and grandchildren were the center of his universe.

Many will picture his laughter as he coached countless softball games, played Blooperball, and taking his grandkids to the park. We can hear him saying, “Isn’t that a corker” with that unfiltered belly laugh.

Surviving are his wife, Lynn of 48 years, three daughters, Melanie (fiance Andrew Morgan) Aikens, Melissa (fiance Al Maurer) Farrier and Tina (Tommy) Wilson, six grandchildren, Cailey (Shane) Wilkinson, Abby (Griffin Saddler) Aikens, Kiersten Wirgau, Payton Aikens, Madison and Max Wilson, two great-grandchildren, Sophie and PJ Wilkinson, two sisters, Loraine (Ron Sortor) Thompson, Lydia (Connie) Farrier, half-sister, Linda Balyeat, two brothers-in-law, Arnie (Carol) Himes, Mark (Rhonda) Himes, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Paul David Aikens, in 2016.

Cremation arrangements are being handled by At Season’s End in Arizona. Memorial service to take place at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church in Alpena.
