Holly Elizabeth McLaughlin, 82, of Alpena, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena. Holly was born in Detroit, Michigan on Nov. 14, 1938 to the late Fred and Verona Neview.
"She believed she could, so she did." Holly was a determined mother through good times and bad. She made a better life for her and her family, even while being widowed at a young age, and two adopted children. She found her passion in teaching music and it became her full-time love, leading many children and adults to compete in a national level, winning many awards. She gained the respect of her peers fulfilling her dream and she shined while doing so.
She leaves behind a son, Shannon Lee (Paula) Newman, a daughter, Deana Marie Newman, four grandchildren, Brandi Lynn, Devin Lee, Laila Elizabeth, and Garrett Michael, a brother Donald (Linda) McLaughlin, along with many nieces and nephews whom she showed much love. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert, and her brother Bob.
A celebration of life will be planned in the spring. Her final resting place will be in Brighton City Cemetery with her love Albert Lee Newman. McWilliams Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be registered at mcwilliamsfh.com.
