PATRICK JOHN O’CALLAGHAN

O’Callaghan, Patrick John of Flushing, age 92, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family after a long battle with multiple health challenges. Patrick was born in Alpena, Michigan on Nov. 19, 1928, to Frank and Frances (Donovan) O’Callaghan. Pat was the fourth born out of eight kids in a large, loving Catholic family.

Pat graduated from St. Bernard’s High School in Alpena in 1946. Pat’s college was interrupted by four years in the Air Force from 1950-1954. After his Air Force commitment, Pat finished his education at the University of Detroit in 1956, and a graduate degree from General Motors Institute in 1957. Pat had a long and successful career in supply chain management for Buick for over 30 years before retiring in January of 1989.

Pat married the love of his life, Helen, on Jan. 5, 1957, and was happily married for over 63 years. Pat and Helen loved to travel the world and explore new adventures together. Over the last several decades, he and Helen split their time between their homes in Flushing, Nokomis, Florida and a cottage in Gladwin. Pat was a wonderful, caring, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.

Pat lived a long, loving and happy life. Pat was a very devout Catholic and his footprints will be felt for a long time. Pat was preceded in death by his wife, Helen in August, his son, Timothy in May as well as five of his siblings.

Pat is survived by his children, Patrick (Deborah) O’Callaghan Jr., Michael (Carol) O’Callaghan, and Maureen (Richard) Panone and many grandchildren including, Andrea Casler, Kim Henson, Kaitlyn O’Callaghan, Nolan O’Callaghan, Sean O’Callaghan, Aiden O’Callaghan, Daniel Panone, Nicholas Panone, Christopher Panone, Jessica Panone and great-grandchildren, Devyn Henson, Shelby Henson and Gavyn Henson.

Due to COVID, there will be a small private Mass at St. John Vianney on Wednesday, Nov.25, 2020, with a private burial and military honors at Flushing Cemetery.
