HANS W. OLSEN

Hans W. Olsen, 52, of Alpena, passed away unexpectedly on Friday Nov. 27, 2020 at his home. Hans was a loving and caring son, brother, and uncle who will be dearly missed.

He was born on Sept. 7, 1968 to the late Robert and Janet (Oles) Olsen in Alpena. Hans graduated with the class of 1986 from Alpena High School. He then went on to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Michigan.

Hans enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, sailing, and just being outdoors in general. He loved to spend time at the family cottage on Misery Bay as well as the Alibi Hunting Club. He also enjoyed taking trips to Alaska. Hans was by definition a “handyman”. It brought him great joy and feeling of accomplishment using his hands whether it was finish carpentry, woodworking, or even maintenance on equipment.

Hans is survived by his two brothers, Robert (Kristy) of Lachine and Erik (Jody) Olsen of Interlochen, his nephews, Zachary, Aaron, Jesse, Joshua, Aiden, and Connor, and his beloved dog Neela.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Janet Olsen.

Family will receive friends for visitation at McWilliams Funeral Home on Tuesday Dec. 1, 2020 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. followed by a private family memorial service with the Rev. James Erickson officiating. The memorial service will be live streamed via McWilliams Funeral Home’s Facebook page as well as the website mcwilliamsfh.com. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation to Second Chance Animal Shelter or Evelyn N. Oles Nursing Scholarship Fund at Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan.
