GARRY LEE BOLDREY

Garry Lee Boldrey, 81, of Hillman passed away Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena.

Garry was born on May 2, 1939 in Hillman to the late Sterling and Marietta (James) Boldrey. He served in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant from 1962-1966. On Feb. 3, 1962, he married Kay Stevens. She preceded him in death on March 16, 2010. Garry worked as a schoolteacher, manager of Credit Unions, sawmill operator and owner Hillman Wood Products, a timber cruiser, fuel buyer of Hillman Power, Township Supervisor from 1972-2020, Township Assessor from 1972 -2006, beef farmer/gardener, and Ducks Unlimited Regional President.

Garry was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed Canadian fishing trips with his family and friends, trapping with his buddies, and creating extra special memories with his children, grandkids and great grandkids.

Surviving are his special companion, Connie Brandt; four children, Garry (Peggy) Boldrey, Bradley (Stacey) Boldrey, Rodney (Mary) Boldrey, Kelly (Chuck) Bennett; 10 grandchildren, Dustin (Chere), Brittany (Andy), Kyle, Kourtney, Brooke, Addison, Samantha, Nicole, Adrian, Kenyon; four great-grandchildren, Beau, Jillian, Mia, Lochlan; Connie’s family, Billy (Jenni) Brandt, Kimberly Brandt, Billy, Paisley, Jayce; four siblings, Dennis (Joyce) Boldrey, James (Penny) Boldrey, Cora Flowers, Sterling (Jeanine) Boldrey, Jr.; brother-in-law, Roland Rieger; and special caregiver and friend, Simone Clink.

Mr. Boldrey was preceded in death by his grandson, Dawson; sister, Geraldine Rieger; and brother-in-law, Randy Flowers.

Visitation will take place Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020 at Bannan Funeral Home-Alpena from 2-8 p.m. and continue there Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Marsha Marquardt officiating, followed by military honors by VFW Alpena Post 2496.
