HELEN ELIZABETH PHILLIPS

Helen Elizabeth Pernie was born on March 20, 1947 in Alpena to the late Harold and Jeanette (Lince) Pernie. In her younger years, she had a beautiful singing voice. She received a standing ovation when she was 14 years old for her performance of “Mockingbird Hill”. Helen served in the United States Navy as a photographer. She enjoyed reading. Helen was very giving to those in need and to charities.

Surviving are her seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three siblings, Eugene (Debra) Pernie of Alpena, David (Judy) Pernie of South Carolina, Ruth Lancewicz of Alpena; sister-in-law, Rosemary Pernie of Alpena; and a special, best friend, Michael Marchlewski.

Helen was preceded in death by her two daughters, Lee Danford, Laura Bensman; grandson, Cameron; brother, Paul Pernie; and sister, Anne Forrester.

Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
