LAWRENCE M. CALDER
Lawrence (Larry) M. Calder, age 73, of Alpena County lost his hard-fought battle with cancer Sept. 10, 2020, at home under the care of Hospice of Michigan.
Larry was born in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Marvin & Eva (McKelvey) Calder, on Nov. 21, 1946. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1978 and served as a Staff Sergeant with the 82nd Airborne Infantry in Vietnam 68/69. Awarded various medals including Bronze Star and Air Medal. He had a 40-year insurance career in Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio and California. He was a member of DAV and a MMAP volunteer at the Alpena Senior Center.
Graveside Committal Services will be held Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery where he will be put to rest with his parents.
Services will be led by Father Fitzpatrick followed by full military honors accorded by VFW Post 2496.
