Larry Fortier, 67, of Gaylord, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2020 at home. Born in Detroit on June 30, 1953, he was the son of Rene’ and Theresa (Peron) Fortier.
Larry is survived by Nadine, his wife of 43 years. Also surviving are his children, Anthony (Taylor) Fortier of Gaylord and William (Shannon) Fortier of Las Vegas, Nevada, brothers and sisters, Mike (Diane) Fortier of Flint, Kathy (Mark) Lenzi of White Lake, Denise (Matt) Burris of Humble, Texas, and Carole Binger, grandchildren, Marissa Litherland, Nicklas Fortier and Samantha Fortier, great-granddaughter, Mya Litherland Cain, his mother-in-law, Rosalie Newhouse of Alpena and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Nancy (Dwayne) Lewis.
Larry graduated from the Detroit Police Academy in 1987 and proudly served for the Detroit Police Department for 22 years. After retiring 2009, Larry and Nadine moved to Gaylord.
Larry’s family will visit with friends beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church where a memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. all outside underneath the pavilion.
