RITA MARIA BARANSKI
Rita Maria Baranski, age 88, of Alpena, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2020, at MediLodge of Alpena.
On Oct. 8, 1931, Rita was born to the late Howard and Mildred (Wolschon) Sheer in Detroit, Michigan. She married Francis J. Baranski on Oct. 17, 1953; together they were blessed with eight children. In Rita’s spare time for caring for her children, she enjoyed being a Girl Scout Leader, Cake Baking, and Gardening. She was a loving, caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, god mother, aunt and friend.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Francis; their eight children: Mary Locke, of Maryville, Tennessee; Daniel (Alice) Baranski, of Troy, Michigan; Betsy (Zed) Daniels, of Cocoa, Florida; Jeanette (Don) Whayne, of West Bloomfield, Michigan; Matthew Baranski, of Maryville, Tennessee; Francis (Megan) Baranski Jr., of Warren, Michigan; Edward Baranski, of Tucson, Arizona; Michael Baranski, of Alpena, Michigan; twelve grandchildren: Jennifer Kuzinski, Bryan and Danielle Baranski, Derek and Andrew Miller, Melanie Merriman, Michael and Christopher Whayne, Patrick, Thomas, Ann Baranski, and Nicholas Baranski; 12 great-grandchildren: Arianna and Audrey Baranski, Nadine, Cassidy, and Brewer Kuzinski, Seth Earle, David and Abby Weatherford, Isabella, Ethan, Savannah and Emma Baranski; four brothers: Howard (Helen) Sheer, of West Bloomfield, Michigan; Edward (Hsiah) Sheer, of Escondido, California; Paul Sheer, of West Bloomfield, Michigan; and Donald (Rhonda) Sheer, of Rochester Hills, Michigan; two sisters: Mildred (John) Lachjewski, of Joliet, Illinois, and Elaine Jones, of Peachtree City, Georgia; along with several nieces and nephews.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Mildred (Wolschon) Sheer, Joseph Jones, Marilyn Scheer, and Melanie Merriman.
Arrangements were handled through the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home. A Private Family Graveside Committal was held at the Presque Isle Cemetery.
Interment: Presque Isle Cemetery in Presque Isle, Michigan.
