George F. Treon, age 78, of Versailles, Ohio passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 4, 2019 at 7:10 a.m. at the Versailles Health Care Center. Born in Versailles on Jan. 23, 1941 he was one of four children to the late Herman and Alma (Marshal) Treon. George had worked for, and retired from General Motors, Inland Division as a foreman. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, Ohio. George was a Golden Eagle and member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2347, Versailles. He was a former volunteer firefighter for Versailles Fire Department. George enjoyed spending time at his retirement home in Alpena, Michigan, where he also liked to go mushroom hunting. He enjoyed the outdoors; cutting wood, fishing, gardening and working in the flower beds. More than anything he loved spending time with his family. He will truly be missed. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son Bernard Treon, granddaughter Kerri Murphy, brothers-in-law Ron Dirksen, Larry Goffena.

Survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon (Goffena) Treon, whom he married Sept.16, 1961; children Frank and Jenny Treon; Kim and Terry Murphy; grandchildren Michael Treon; Kelsey Treon; Donald and Ashley Brocious; Thomas Murphy; William Murphy; one great-grandchild on the way; siblings David and Rosie Treon; Emma and Russ Scott; Marilyn Dirksen; sister-in-law Barb Goffena.

Friends may call on the family on Friday, Nov. 8, 2019 from 5-8 p.m. at the Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio. There will be a brief prayer service starting at 7:30 p.m. with Fr.
