GENEVIEVE M. BERRY
Genevieve M. Berry, age 94, of Lachine, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019, at Medilodge of Alpena.
On Nov. 6, 1925, Genevieve was born to the late Anthony and Julia (Kline) Grochowski in Alpena, Michigan. She married Robert Berry on Oct. 26, 1953, at St. Mary Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on March 23, 1983. Genevieve worked at the Alpena Garment Factory and for her brothers at Tony & Chet’s Market. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Genevieve was a great wife and Mother, who dedicated her life to her family. She was always happy to share and give to others. Playing pinochle was one of her favorite past times as well as scrabble with her friend Marg.
Genevieve is survived by her four children: Carl (Kathy) Berry, of Herron, Michigan; Donald (Kathy) Berry; Barbara (Timothy) Smith, both of Lachine, Michigan; and Kenneth Berry, of Herron, Michigan; 12 grandchildren: Christopher Berry, Jessica Berry, Stephanie (Fred) Loewe, Doni (Colin) Riffert, Colin (Kayla) Berry, Evan Berry, Lyndon (Ashley) Berry, Joshua (Monica) Smith, Courtney (Jake) Hoover, Ashley (Travis) Konarzewski, Robert (Katelyn) Berry, and Alan Berry; 11 great-grandchildren: Elliot and Eleanor Loewe, Max and Owen Riffert, Harley Berry, Rhett Berry, Liliana Smith, Addis and Charlotte Hoover, Levi and Landon Konarzewski; along with one brother: Dave (Lillian) Grochowski, of Alpena, Michigan; one sister-in-law Irene Grochowski, of Alpena, Michigan and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Edwin, Anthony II, and Chet Grochowski along with one sister, Helen Souva.
Family and friends will gather for visitation on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019, at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a Parish Prayer Service beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, Dec. 2, 2019, at St. Mary Catholic Church of All Saints Parish from 11 a.m. until the noon Mass of Christian Burial begins with Fr. Scott Lawler officiating.
Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery
