MELVIN WILBERT LEECK

Melvin Wilbert Leeck, 77, of Lachine, passed away on Monday, Aug. 12, 2019, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Melvin was born on March 4, 1942, to Wilbert and Florence (Cousineau) Leeck in Alpena, Michigan. On March 30, 1962, he married Kathleen Salow in Saginaw. Melvin was a member of Operating Engineers’ Local 324 and retired from Lafarge Corp. in 2004. Melvin enjoyed riding his Harley, snowmobiling, racing, attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, working around his 80 acres, hunting, and being with his family and friends. He was a loving, hardworking husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Kathleen; four children, Timothy (Ann) Leeck of Ossineke, Daniel (Tammy) Leeck of Alpena, David (Sue) Leeck of Alpena, Julie (Chris) Voorhies of Twin Lake; daughter-in-law, Christine Leeck of Alpena; 13 grandchildren, Chelsea (Jareth) Putkamer, Courtney (Matt Buckey) Leeck, Christy Leeck, Christopher (Kelli) Goodwin, Hilary Goodwin, Austin (Samantha Jensen) Leeck, Elise Leeck, Wesley Leeck, Jessica Leeck, Jenna Leeck, Reed Leeck, Weston Voorhies Ella Voorhies; six great-grandchildren, Brinn Putkamer, Charlee Buckey Parker Buckey, Andrew Tessmer, Oliver Goodwin and Emily Goodwin.

He was preceded in death by his son, Tony Leeck; and brother, Austin Allen.

Memorial visitation will take place Thursday at Bannan Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. and continue there Friday from 3 p.m. until the memorial service at 4 p.m. with Rev. John Blanchard officiating.
