JUNE MARGARET STONE
June “Peggy” Margaret Stone, 75, of Alpena, passed away following a long and courageous battle with cancer on Friday, May 17, 2019 at her home surrounded by her children and their spouses.
June Margaret Lixie was born on April 11, 1944 in Alpena to the late Ulrich and Lillian (Jeziolkowski) Lixie and married Gerald Stone Oct. 12, 1964. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2012. Peggy retired from Skiba Vision Center in 2013. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. Peggy had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed playing games, cards, doing puzzles and painting.
Surviving are five children, Shaunn (Dale) Veatch, Ladd (Kim) Stone, Nicholl (James) Perkins, Brett (Cassie) Stone, Breann (Scott) Stone; eight grandchildren, DJ, Andrew, Michael, Amber, Trevor, Ashley, Riley, Jamey; three great-grandchildren, Skyler, Easton, Nyomi; three siblings, Betty Lawler, Jim (Gaye) Lixie, Lorraine Lixie; two brothers-in-laws, Norm Helinski, Vern Michaud; several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by six siblings, Mary Lixie, Geraldine Lixie, Patricia Spalding, Barbara Michaud, Helen Woods, and Jackie Helinski.
Memorial visitation will take place at St. Bernard Church of All Saints Parish on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. with Rev. James Fitzpatrick officiating. Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Hospice of Michigan.
