MICHAEL JAMES RECK

Michael James Reck, 31, of Lansing, Mich., formerly of Alpena, Mich., passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Nov. 9, 2018 at his home. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. Michael entered this world on April 5, 1987 to Kevin Reck and Dorothy Heinbokel in Columbus, Ohio. He was a graduate of Alpena High School in 2005. After graduating college Michael went to work for Auto Owners Insurance company as a senior software developer.

Michael was a very caring person who was always eager to give to others no matter what the need and always went above and beyond in making people feel special. Many would say, “If you didn’t know Michael, you missed out.” He was an avid gamer, enjoyed board games, card games, and reading, but above all else his family was closest to his heart. Michael had a great passion for animals and loved to go to all zoos in many different cities but the one animal that meant the most to him was his good friend and companion “Skittles” his cat.

Michael is survived by both of his moms Dorothy (Zarske) (Dennis II) Miteen, and Melinda (Reck) Campbell; and dad Dan Zarske; four brothers, Kyle (Ashleigh) Zarske of Alpena, Mich., T.J. Miteen of Mio, Mich., Tyler (Mickaela) Zarske of Alpena, Mich., and Kevin Reck II of Springfield, Ohio.; two sisters, Jessica (Jon) Berrisford of Springfield, Ohio and Bailey (Corey) Zarske of East Lansing, Mich.; grandparents, Carl (Lois) Reck, Theilia Heinbokel, Dennis (Ruth) Miteen, and Marla Beck; as well as nephews Cayden and Sawyer Zarske. He was preceded in death by his father Kevin Reck.
