WILLIAM ROBERT WALMSLEY

William “Bill” Robert Walmsley, 88, of Alpena, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family following a brief illness.

Bill was born Sept. 4, 1930 in Alpena to the late Theodore and Neva (Dennis) Walmsley and had been a lifelong resident of the Alpena area. He retired from Stoneport after 45 years of service. A member of Trinity Episcopal Church he also was a member of the Alcona Masonic Lodge, the Alpena Shrine Club and an avid member of AA for over 53 years. A loving father, grandfather and friend he will be missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Surviving are four sons, Robert (Lori) Walmsley of Alpena, William (Jackie) Walmsley of Missouri, Earl (Sue) Walmsley of Alpena, Walter Walmsley of Alpena; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason, Jessica, Kristina, Matthew, Erin, Michael; four great-grandchildren, Madison, Taylor, Angela, Conner; and a sister, Jeannette Schultz of Ossineke. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley on March 13, 2008 and a son, Harley in 2006.

Bill Walmsley is at McWilliams Funeral Home where friends may call on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday from 10 a.m. until the start of the Masonic Prayer Service at 11 a.m. with the funeral service immediately following with Rev. Bruce Michaud officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or McLaren Sunrise Side Hospice.
