DONALD FLOYD WRIGHT

Mr. Donald Floyd Wright, 87, of Hillman, Mich., died peacefully at his home on May 15, 2018, surrounded by loving family. He was born to Ida and Floyd Wright in Hillman, Mich., on Jan. 26, 1931. He graduated from Hillman High School in 1948 and married his high school sweetheart, Betty Powell, in 1950 at the Hillman Methodist Church. Don took an apprenticeship for tool and die at General Motors in Flint, Mich. He continued his education at G.M.I. and became a mechanical engineer. He retired after 37 years and moved back to Hillman. Don served in the National Guard for three years. He served on many community boards and as a secretary for St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hillman and Holy Cross in Flushing, Mich., where he lived for 25 years.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Wright of Hillman; two sons, Gregory (Shannon) Wright of Hubbard Lake, Curtis (Mel) Wright of Eden Prairie, Minn.; three grandchildren, Amanda Thomson, John Wright, and Nicole Wright; four great-grandchildren; and a dear friend, Ann Wright. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ida and Floyd Wright; and his brother, Phillip Wright.

Funeral services for Mr. Wright will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 18, 2018, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Royston, Pastor Jason Mandley officiating. Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 17, 2018, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will take place at Hillman Rust Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be given to Hospice of Michigan; St John’s Lutheran Church; or the Montmorency Commission on Aging. Arrangements were entrusted to Green Funeral Home.
