ALFRED WILLIAM BOBOLTZ

Alfred William Boboltz, 96, passed away peacefully at Davison Family Home in Alpena on Sunday morning, April 29, 2018. Alfred and his wife Anna Mae have resided there together for a year and a half, receiving much loving assistance from Cindy, Theresa, Karen, daughters-in-law, sons and granddaughter Amanda. Thanks also to other family members who visited.

Alfred was born in Sanborn Township March 26, 1922, the ninth child of Ralph and Albertina (Brilinski) Boboltz. He married Anna Mae Olsen on May 31, 1947, nearly 71 years ago. They met at the Cedar Grove, Alfred asked her to dance, and a lifelong romance was born. Alfred and Ann were engaged to be married when he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the fall of 1942. During his three plus years serving his country, he wrote over 500 letters to his bride to be. At the time of his enlistment, Alfred was employed at Besser Company. Returning to work there after his discharge in early 1946, he continued to work there for over 40 years, mostly sharpening machine tools, until his retirement in 1984.

Alfred truly enjoyed his family, working in the yard and at camp, traveling with Ann, volunteering at church and eating. That man could eat! He also really enjoyed rabbit hunting with the family beagle in his younger years. For many years he and Ann took care of flowers and bushes at the church.

Alfred’s six brothers and two sisters and their spouses all preceded him in death. His siblings were Art, Fred, Evelyn (Parfitt), Carl, Leonard, Richard, Clarence and Leonore (Weigand). He is survived by his wife Anna Mae; sister-in-law Margaret Olsen; two sons Randy (Jamie) and Jim (Laurie); five grandchildren Ashley Wing (Kevin), Amanda Boboltz, Alisa Fairbanks (Jesse), Taylour Boboltz and Wyatt (Chelsea); two great- grandchildren Brady and Alexander Wing; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a gathering of family and friends at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 12, from 10 until the time of Memorial Service at 12 p.m. with Rev. Shirley Ross-Jones officiating.

In lieu of flowers, if you wish to give in Alfred’s memory, please consider St. Paul Lutheran Church (Third and Mirre), McLaren Hospice or Huron Humane Society. Online condolences may be registered at www.mcwilliamsfh.com.
