THOMAS D. THOMPSON

ADRIAN — Thomas “Tom” D. Thompson, age 93, of Adrian, died on March 22, 2018, at Lenawee Medical Care Facility.

Tom was born July 20, 1924, in Dayton, Ohio, to John Russell and Scholle (Osborn) Thompson. On June 20, 1945, he married J. Leota DuPuis in Alpena, Mich. She preceded him in death on Feb. 23, 2016. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1943-1945. He was employed by Besser Company, Alpena, Mich., GoCorp, Inc., Adrian, and Columbia Machine, Inc., Vancouver, Wash. The last 17 years before retiring, he was owner of Thompson & Thompson. Tom was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the American Legion Post 275, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1584, and AMVETS post 1957.

He is survived by three sons, James T. (Vivian) Thompson of Adrian, William P. Thompson of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Jay R. (Charlotte) Thompson of Adrian; a daughter, JoAnne M. (John) Barrett of Manitou Beach; a brother, Richard E. (Edie) Thompson of Orlando, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jack O. Thompson.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2018, from 2-4 p.m. at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian, where a Vigil Prayer Service will be held at 4 p.m. with Fr. Tom Murphy officiating.

Chapel services will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Alpena with full military rites conducted by the Michigan Army National Guard.
