ALICE MARGARET SKOWRONEK
Alice Margaret Skowronek, age 88, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, at West Branch Regional Medical Center. She had lived in West Branch since 1972, formerly of Alpena, Mich. Alice was born to Cecil and Elva (Stehlin) White on March 25, 1929, in Metz, Mich. She married Erwin “Ed” Skowronek on July 3, 1948, in Metz, Mich. Alice was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Catholic Council of Women. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Woman Auxiliary in Skidway Lake. She enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with her family.
Alice is survived by her children: Randy (Cindy) Skowronek of West Branch, Mich., Mark (Dawn) Skowronek of West Branch, Mich., and Lynn (Joe) Roman of West Branch, Mich.; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Donald (Pat) White of Roger City, Mich.; and sister-in-law, Mary Lapznyski of Alpena, Mich. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ed, daughter, Sandy Skowronek, granddaughter, Samantha Roman, great granddaughter, Chloe Bolyard, sister, Patricia Hodgins, Audrey Haske and June Burzyk; and brother, Robert White.
Visitation at Steuernol McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, from 3 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 3 p.m. On Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017, Alice will lie in state at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch beginning at 11 a.m. until the Celebration of Life Mass at 12 p.m. Father Patrick Maher will officiate.
